Do I need to have my driver training course approved? It is not mandatory for a licensed driver training school in British Columbia to have an approved driver education program; however, it is recommended that a driver training school have an organized plan to follow for the conduct of driver training. It is the responsibility of professional driver training instructors and driver training schools to ensure that new drivers develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes they will need to drive safely on public highways. The Insurance Corporation of British Columbia's (ICBC) is dedicated to road safety as part of its mission and this is your opportunity to contribute to making BC Roads Safer for all British Columbians. ICBC believes that professional driver education can contribute to improving the quality of drivers in British Columbia and is committed to assisting the Driver Training Industry with the development of driver training programs. Developing a Driver Education Course ICBC has a number of resource materials to assist you in developing a driver education program for your driving school. You may also apply to have your course formally approved by ICBC which offers a number of advantages. |
