Individuals currently holding
a valid Instructor's Licence may upgrade their licence in
order to conduct more advanced driver education.
GLP designation
Theory designation

Enables the instructor to conduct theory
(in-class) training.
NOTE: This does not permit the
conduct of an ICBC-Approved Driver Education Course.
An instructor must obtain a GLP designation in order
to do so.
Prerequisites:
Completion of a Defensive Driving Course for Instructors
at an authorized Instructor Training Facility

High Class (1-4 designation)
In addition to submitting a completed Application
for a British Columbia Driver Training Instructor's Licence
and $15.00 fee, a Completion Certificate issued by the instructor
training facility is required in order to obtain a duplicate instructor's
licence that includes the appropriate designation upgrade.
This certifies that the applicant has taken the appropriate training
required to obtain the particular designation.

If the applicant is applying to
have a 'GLP' designation added to his or her instructor's licence,
a Graduated Licensing Program Instructor Course Completion
Certificate (MV2488) must be included |

If
the applicant is applying to have a 'theory' designation added
to his or her instructor's licence, you will usually receive
a certificate issued by the BC Safety Council stating that the
individual has completed a 'Defensive Driving Course for Instructors' |

If the applicant is applying to
have a class 1-4 designation added to his or her instructor's
licence, a Driver Training Instructor's Course Completion
Certificate must be included |
