An individual interested in obtaining an original British Columbia Driver Training Instructor's Licence must meet a number of prerequisites as defined in Division 27 of the Motor Vehicle Act Regulations. There are three stages to the driver training instructor Licensing process. You must complete the first two stages prior to attending an instructor training course at an approved Instructor Training Facility. Stage 1: Contact ICBC's Driver Training Unit by phone or complete the on-line Driver Training Instructor Application Request Form in order for our Licensing Representatives to verify the following information:
Stage 2: Once the Stage 1 requirements have been met, an application package will be sent to you including the following:
Stage 3 (Final Stage): Upon receipt and approval of the completed application forms, as indicated in Stage 2, we will notify you in writing, advising you to proceed with the following:
Download a list of instructor training facilities Once you have successfully completed a driver training instructor's course, you must submit the original copy of a completed Driver Training Instructor Course Completion Certificate (MV2499) (provided by the Training Facility) along with a $30.00 licensing fee; cheque made payable to ICBC. Your application would then be processed and you will be issued a British Columbia Driver Training Instructor's Licence, valid for a period of (2) years. Driver Training Instructors can only deliver training to the paying public who are enrolled at a licensed driver training school. |
