Instructors conducting an ICBC-Approved Driver Education Course must meet the following qualifications: Approved Course for Class 7 - Passenger Vehicles
Approved Course for Class 8 - Motorcycle
For information on becoming a driver training instructor or obtaining a GLP designation on an existing instructor's licence visit our page on Instructor Licensing. GLP Instructor Licence Designation A designation on a driver instructor licence that permits an instructor to teach an approved GLP driver education course. An instructor's non-GLP instructor licence designation(s) determines which approved course components they may teach. GLP Instructor Course Challenge Process A challenge process is available to those individuals interested in waiving the requirement to take the GLP Instructor Course. The challenge process involves an assessment of instructional skills and GLP curriculum knowledge. Instructors who successfully complete the challenge process will be able to obtain a GLP Instructor licence designation without having to complete a GLP Instructor Course. If you would like more information regarding the GLP Instructor Course Challenge Process, contact the Driving School Inspector in your area. Practical Designation A licence designation that allows instructors to provide driver training conducted in or around a motor vehicle. Theory Designation A licence designation that allows instructors to provide driver training conducted in a classroom. |
