The Course Approval Application Package
The school will be sent a Course Approval
Application package containing the following forms:

Class 7 Course Approval and Application
Requirements (DTC207) or
Class 8 Course Approval and Application Requirements (DTC208)
Information on approval and application requirements for an ICBC (GLP) - Approved Driver Education Course. It is
used to assist you in ensuring that your application
is complete before submitting it for review
- Approval Agreement and appropriate
attached Schedules
An agreement between ICBC and a licensed
driver training school stating the school's requirement
to comply with the approved course standards and ICBC's
commitment to provide class 7 students successfully completing an approved course and who remain violation and at-fault crash-free for the first 18 months of their Novice stage witha six-month reduction in the GLP Novice stage.

Outline (MV2914)
Used to summarize the curriculum for
both the Class 7 and Class 8 ICBC Approved Driver Education
courses. This includes:

Day/Lesson number
- The lessons covered
on each day
- The number of Classroom
time/Practical time for each lesson
- Which Learning Outcomes
are covered during each lesson
- The Instructional
Strategy used in each lesson
- Discretionary allocation
of time (Max. 4 hours)
- The lesson number
where a midpoint assessment is completed
- The total number of
hours covered by your course

Approved Driver Education
Course Class 7 Learning Outcome Cross Reference (MV2912)or;
Approved Driver Education
Course Class 8 Learning Outcome Cross Reference (MV2913)
for Motorcycle Training Course Approval)
These forms cross reference the learning
outcomes and required topics that you will cover with
the sessions in which they are delivered. It is
used by Driver Training & Assessment Standards
to ensure that your course contains all the elements
necessary to obtain course approval. This includes:
- Learning outcomes,
Minimum time
- Time in minutes spent
on a particular learning outcome
- Required topics that
must be covered in a an approved course
- Lesson number that
addresses the required topics for the listed learning
outcome
- Discretionary allocation
of time (Max. 4 hours)
- Total number of hours
covered by your course

Course lesson plan
Provides more detail than what is contained
in your course outline. This will be the document
that you will use as a reference when delivering your
lessons A course lesson plan should contain the
following details:
- The learning outcomes
that will be addressed
-
The required topics
that will be covered
- The instructional
Strategies being used to teach the required topics
- The activities being
used
- The order of the activities
- Details on how each
of the activities will be conducted
- The times allotted
for each part of the activities
- Plans for assessment
and evaluation

available that can be obtained by contacting Driver Training & Assessment Standards.
Driver Training School Signing Authority
An individual designated by a driver training
school to have signing authority on behalf of the school.
List of Instructors
Instructors must have a GLP designation
Change of Personnel
Notify ICBC in writing, within 10 days of
any change of personnel who act as signing authority and provide
ICBC with the person's sample signature.
The Review Process
Upon receipt of the completed Agreement and attachments,
the Curriculum Advisor will review the course to determine its compliance
with the standards of the program. The Curriculum Advisor
will work closely with the applicant to ensure that the course
curriculum meets the criteria for an approved course.
If the course has met ICBC requirements then the remainder of the
application criteria is checked by a Driver Training Licensing Representative.
If all is in order, the Course Approval Agreement is signed by ICBC.
Copies of the agreement, an approved course stamp and an initial
supply of blank MV2910
Declaration of Completion forms will sent to the Driver Training
School.
Submission of Purchased Course Curriculum
Some schools that have previously obtained ICBC course approval may choose to sell the usage rights of their curriculum to other driver training schools.
As ICBC curriculum standards change with time, curriculum previously approved by ICBC may not meet current guidelines.
All submitted GLP course curriculum for new applicants will be individually reviewed by ICBC using current standard guidelines; therefore, purchasing previously approved course curriculum from other driver training schools will not ensure curriculum approval.
Renewing an ICBC Approved Course
Course approval expires annually, coinciding
with the expiry date of the driver training school licence.
The school licence renewal package includes the course approval
renewal package for schools delivering an approved course.
